Finally, Some Rain Relief!
After weeks of surviving Delhi’s intense heatwave, we finally have a date to circle on our calendars. The IMD predicts the monsoon will hit Delhi-NCR between June 25 and June 30.
While we enjoyed some scattered rain and thunderstorms this week, don't pack your hoodies away just yet. Temperatures are expected to climb back up before the real downpour begins.
The Monsoon Map
- Timeline: The monsoon is expected to sweep across Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad in the last week of June.
- North India impact: Neighboring states like Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh are also set to receive showers.
- Hilly regions: Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh are expecting respite from extreme heat as well.
Watch Out for the 'Oops' Moments
While we’re all dreaming of chai and pakoras, the weather department has shared a few warnings:
- Waterlogging: City infrastructure might struggle with sudden heavy spells.
- Lightning & Wind: Stay safe during intense thunderstorms, especially in open or hilly areas.
- Air Quality: Despite the rain, the AQI remains 'Poor.' Areas like Anand Vihar (AQI 284) and Mundka (239) are still seeing high pollution levels.
The Bottom Line
Last year, the monsoon arrived on June 29. We are looking at a similar trajectory this time around. While the relief is coming, stay hydrated and keep an eye on those AQI levels before heading out for your weekend plans!
